The Yonex VCORE ACE in Scarlet is a light graphite racquet for recreational players who want to improve ball placement with a relatively compact head. At 98 square inches and a nominal 260 g, it takes a different approach from many beginner-friendly frames that rely on a larger hitting area. Scarlet ACE offers a focused learning experience, but asks the player to pay more attention to racquet positioning and contact.
Low overall mass, a more measured string pattern
The 16/20 pattern is denser than the one found in the newer VCORE ACE Ruby Red and may suit someone who enjoys a more controlled launch. A 345 mm balance means the head remains noticeable despite the low overall mass. This is an interesting combination for deliberate practice and developing confidence in directing the ball rather than simply hitting harder.
Crucially, seventh-generation ACE Scarlet and the 2026 ACE Ruby Red are not two colours of the same racquet. The newer edition uses a 100-square-inch head and a 16/19 pattern. Buying and describing this model therefore requires attention to the exact Scarlet specification, not just the familiar VCORE ACE name.
